Free Cheque Printing Software in the UAE: What Free Really Gets You

There is no genuinely free cheque printing software for UAE banks that does the whole job. What you will find under "free" is one of four things: a free amount-to-words converter, a free trial of desktop software that expires, a free download with the useful features locked, or a Word or Excel template someone built for one bank's old cheque layout. Each of them leaves you doing part of the work by hand, and that is where cheques get spoiled.

Want to see the paid version on your own cheque book before deciding? Book a live session and we'll set up your actual bank layout on the call.

The Short Answer

Free cheque printing software in the UAE does not exist in a form that prints, aligns and records your cheques. The free options each do one piece: convert an amount to words, let you trial desktop software for a few weeks, or give you a document template for one bank's layout. The part they leave out is the part that saves money.

This guide explains what each free option actually gives you, where it breaks, and what a paid licence for cheque printing software for UAE businesses costs, so you can compare honestly. EasyCheck is not free, and we say so plainly below.

What "Free Cheque Printing Software" Usually Means

1. Free amount-to-words converters

You type AED 12,450.50 and it gives you "Twelve Thousand Four Hundred Fifty Dirhams and Fifty Fils Only". Handy for the occasional cheque, and EasyCheck publishes a free one. But a converter is not cheque printing software: it gives you the words, and you still write the cheque by hand.

2. Free trials of desktop software

Usually 7 to 30 days, Windows only, installed on one PC. These downloads come with a set of preconfigured bank templates built into the software, and that is all you get: you pick your bank from a list rather than configuring the template from your own cheque book. It works until your bank changes its cheque layout. Then the built-in template no longer lines up, you cannot adjust it yourself, and you wait for the vendor to release an update before you can print again. Some vendors also do not publish what the paid price will be until you are already inside the trial.

3. Freemium downloads

Free to install, but bulk printing, PDC series, multiple bank accounts or reports are locked behind an upgrade. For a business issuing more than a handful of cheques a month, the free tier runs out in the first week.

4. Free Word or Excel cheque templates

A document with text boxes positioned for one bank's cheque layout. These are the riskiest option. They are built for a specific cheque book version, there is no record of what you printed, and when the bank issues a new format the template is simply wrong.

Where Free Breaks

Preconfigured templates do not survive a format change

This is the biggest practical problem with free and trial desktop software, and it applies to paid desktop bundles too. The bank templates are preconfigured inside the vendor's software, not built from your cheque book, so you have no way to adjust them. UAE banks do revise their cheque books. When RAKBANK issued a new cheque format, businesses on fixed-template tools found every field printing in the wrong place, and the only fix was to wait for the vendor. A template you configured yourself from your own cheque book, by scanning a blank leaf and positioning each field, is adjusted in minutes, by you.

No record of what you printed

Free tools print and forget. There is no list of issued cheques, no status (pending, cleared, bounced), no way to see which post-dated cheques fall due next month. That tracking is the part of cheque management that actually saves money, and it is the first thing free tools leave out.

No bulk, no PDC series

Printing 40 supplier cheques one at a time, or writing out 12 rent cheques with sequential dates by hand, is the job you were trying to escape.

No support when alignment goes wrong

The first time a cheque prints two millimetres low, you need someone to tell you which setting to change. With free software there is nobody to ask, and each misaligned attempt is a spoiled leaf you have to cancel.

Windows-only, one PC

Most free downloads are desktop software. If the person who set it up is away, or the PC is replaced, the cheque printing stops with it.

The Real Cost of Free

Free software costs nothing to download. It is not free to use. Every spoiled cheque leaf is a leaf you have to cancel and account for, and a cheque book has a finite number. Every cheque still written by hand is time, and every hand-written amount in words is a chance for a bank to reject it. We worked through the arithmetic in what manual cheque writing actually costs a UAE business, and for most offices the number is larger than a paid licence within the first year.

What Paid Actually Costs

The honest comparison is not "free versus expensive". It is "free versus a one-time licence".

EasyCheck is a one-time 3-year licence with no monthly subscription and no per-cheque fees:

  • Starter, AED 750: single and post-dated cheque printing, unlimited bank templates, PDC calendar.
  • Business Plus, AED 1,200: adds batch printing for supplier runs and bulk PDC series.
  • Premium, AED 3,000: adds document attachment against each cheque.

After Year 3, optional renewal is AED 300 to 1,000 per year depending on plan. Full detail on the pricing page.

It runs in the browser, so it works on any PC or MacBook with no installation, and you configure the template from your own cheque book, so a bank format change is a five-minute adjustment, not a wait for a vendor update.

For comparison, dedicated cheque printer bundles sold in the UAE typically start from around AED 1,800 per year, and the printer can only be used for cheques. We covered that in do you need a cheque printing machine in the UAE. You do not: a standard office laser printer is enough.

What EasyCheck Gives You That Free Software Does Not

The price difference is small. The difference in what you actually get is not.

None of this is exotic. It is the ordinary record-keeping that a finance team expects, and it is precisely the part free software leaves out because it is the part that takes work to build.

How to Decide

Ask four questions:

  1. How many cheques a month? One or two, a free converter and careful handwriting may be fine. Any more than that, you need printing and a record.
  2. Do you issue post-dated cheques? If yes, you need a PDC calendar and sequential dating. No free tool has one.
  3. More than one bank account? Free tools usually allow one template.
  4. Does anyone else need to print cheques? Desktop software lives on one PC. Browser software does not.

If you answered "more than two", "yes", "yes" or "yes", the free option will cost you more than it saves.

FAQ: Free Cheque Printing Software

Is there completely free cheque printing software for UAE banks?+

No, not one that does the whole job. Free options are amount-to-words converters, time-limited trials of desktop software, freemium downloads with bulk and PDC features locked, or Word and Excel templates built for one bank's older cheque layout. Each leaves part of the work manual.

Is EasyCheck free?+

No. EasyCheck is a one-time 3-year licence starting at AED 750, with no monthly subscription and no per-cheque fees. We publish our pricing openly at easycheckpro.com/pricing.

Does EasyCheck offer a free trial?+

No. You can watch the full product demo at easycheckpro.com/demo or book a live walkthrough at easycheckpro.com/schedule-demo, where we set up your actual cheque book on the call so you see it working on your own bank layout before you decide.

What does a free amount-to-words tool actually do?+

It converts a figure such as AED 12,450.50 into the wording a cheque requires, "Twelve Thousand Four Hundred Fifty Dirhams and Fifty Fils Only". It does not print the cheque or keep any record.

Can I use a free Word or Excel cheque template?+

You can, but it is the riskiest free option. The template is built for one bank's cheque layout at one point in time, there is no record of cheques issued, and when the bank changes its format the template is simply wrong. Misaligned prints spoil cheque leaves you then have to cancel.

Is free cheque printing software safe and legal in the UAE?+

Printing onto your own bank-issued cheque leaves is legal regardless of the software. The practical risk with free tools is not legality but alignment errors and the lack of any record of what was printed. The cheque is still signed and stamped by hand by your authorised signatory.

What is the cheapest paid cheque printing software in the UAE?+

EasyCheck Starter is AED 750 as a one-time licence for 3 years, which works out to about AED 21 a month with no subscription. Dedicated cheque printer bundles sold in the UAE typically start from around AED 1,800 per year.

What happens with free software when my bank changes its cheque format?+

With a fixed built-in template, nothing works until the vendor updates it, and free tools are rarely updated. With EasyCheck you configured the template from your own cheque book, so you adjust it yourself in a few minutes. Unlimited templates are included on every plan.

Not free. One-time, and it does the whole job.

EasyCheck is a one-time 3-year licence from AED 750, with no monthly fees and no hardware to buy. Configure the template from your own cheque book and print on a standard office laser printer.
