How to write a cheque amount in words
On a cheque you write the amount twice — once in figures and once in words. The words are the legally binding version, so they must match the figures exactly. In the UAE and across the GCC the accepted format is the amount in words, the currency, the subunit (fils, halalas or baisa), and the word “Only” at the end — for example “Fifteen Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dirhams and Fifty Fils Only”.
